March 2, 2024, Campaign: As the ground quakes, evil wakes

A short summary of actions: interrogate the Thieves.

From Percival's player:

A glib Percival, shouldering Bugfood who has assumed the form of the noble stoat, enters the tavern and makes himself conspicuous. After speaking to the barwench Maddie, she leads him to the back to get jumped by thieves. The party intervenes and kills all patrons, save Trevor who escapes and Maddie who is knocked unconscious.

The corpses are tied to chairs and made to look like uncooperative interrogation targets in order to facilitate the interviewing of the likewise restrained Maddie. In exchange for a guarantee of safety, she shares that the townspeople have been having strange nightmares, the guards are in the pocket of the Thieves' Guild, helmed by Hardwell (might have got the name wrong). The bar has a tunnel leading to the thieves' headquarters (where Bugfood's sister is being kept) that is likely to be destroyed, and some useful words used in to regional Thieves' Cant.

Ryltar Polymorphs Maddie into a turtle and the party travels to find Maltese McGuffin, who has acted as a benefactor to Bugfood. Maltese uses his Magnificent Mansion to gives others a comfortable and safe lodging. He reveals to the party that he is actually Alistair Byron, Percival's assumed deceased grandfather. The party prepares to rest and recuperate before determining the next course of action regarding the retrieval of Bugfood's sister.
